Sony finally unveiled its motion controller in full today at its GDC 2010 press conference. Officially called the PlayStation Move, the controller actually has two separate pieces. The main Move portion is what was shown at E3 2009 and features a glowing ball on the end that the PlayStation Eye (the camera) uses to locate its location. This half features an analog trigger on the back, a big, main button on the front, and the standard PlayStation face buttons (X, Circle, Square and Triangle).

The second half of the PlayStation Move equation is called the sub-controller. This doesn't have a glowing ball on the end but instead features an analog stick, D-Pad, a couple face buttons and an analog trigger on the back. It's all wireless, so unlike the Wii Nunchuck, the sub-controller doesn't need to be plugged into the main motion controller to work.

I'd been thinking about getting a Wii sometime, but now who knows? Guess I'll have to wait and see what sony does with this. What games they make.

Some of the stuff they showed at last years E3 was impressive but making a whole game around those aspects it really depends on what devs run with this, if they go the same route as the Wii with party games etc its going to bomb if there isnt a title that basically sells this new controller it will be much harder to sell.

I'm sure there working on something. And there are a lot of games already on PS3 that use the six axis so it's not really new.. they know how to make good games like this. Just look at Flower.

Yea I'll check it out. I keep forgetting about that site for some reason.

It's gonna be hard to use this controller and not feel like Harry Potter ain't it? I refuse! I'd rather be Hermione. Or that funny red head. Or! Even Better.. the dude from Die Hard!

This is dumb imo. Just let Wii continue with this motion-capture-sensor-whatever crap. I don't want to get this involved with games! I just wanna sit back in my chair and play with my fingers. It's even been rumored that Killzone 3 will be played with this thing.

Xbox has something smiler too don't they? The mart of motion controllers is a lucrative one. They wanna taste of the Wii's success.

For the most part I agree with Chris. When I play a game I wanna just chill out, relax and enjoy myself. But that's not the case with younger kids all hyped up on candy and mountain dew. They wanna be active. And if a kid ain't gonna go outside and play with a ball and a stick like they should.. least the can play with a motion controller.

Yeah, Project Natal. I won't buy it, that's for sure. But hey, this is probably to make the consoles last longer.

Out of the two natal looks promising seeing as Sonys move is like a better Wii controller, i dont mind these controls though they have a long way till they put the controller in its grave.

I can't imagine these things ever winning out over the standard controller. Maybe something like in the movie gamer, where you simply move your body around without any controller. But I'm much more partial to the current style of controllers.

All that being said. If the new crop of move games looks good. I'll probably get one.
