Chris Jericho Isn't Afraid Of Losing His Spot In WWE, More

The following is an excerpt from an article from the UK's Daily Star website:

CHRIS JERICHO FACES THE MUSIC

BEING brutally honest, Chris Jericho has nothing left to achieve in pro-wrestling.

World championships in singles and tag wrestling, thousands of high class matches on many continents, jobbing to Rey Mysterio in China last week... only the inevitable Hall of Fame seat is absent.

With his WWE contract up in a month or two, the multifaceted legend is switching his attention to music once again with feisty rock merchants Fozzy for the biggest UK swing of his career in October.

FT caught up with Jericho for an exclusive chat this week, and he’s not sweating over his wrestling career – he has no need, he tells me.

“I’m not one of those people who worries about my position. I’m never going to lose my spot. I could work the opening match every night and still be a star.”

The influx of youth via the Nexus angle seems to have turned heads, and Jericho is philosophical about the young blood.

“It’s just the way it is – most of the guys in WWE are young guys and green. It’s not like it used to be. I spent nine years going all round the place perfecting my craft – now it’s nine months.

“I’ve learned that periods of darkness can overcome us at any time.
But I’ve also found that I’m able to endure. Overcome. And in the process grown stronger. Smarter. Better.”

Sounds cocky, but it's a fact!
I'll definitely miss the guy, but I know we haven't seen the end of Chis Jericho in WWE.

For me this part says a lot about the current state of the WWE

I agree with everything he said! He is on the same level as Shawn Michaels IMO and Shawn Michaels will definitely always be a star!! I really hate to see him go. Not only is he a great wrestler and highly entertaining, I'll have absolutely nothing left to look at!! Well, maybe Morrison's abs!

He's got a point... (And, lets be honest, he would!), but wrestling has changed. Not so many marks, and the ones that still exist want to see something they haven't seen before. That's the way the WWE has to be now, build the stars now, or in a year, there won't be any left.

With the exception of Sheamus, WWE hasn't made a new star in years! Maybe the Miz as well. But right now WWE doesn't seem to want to push new talent. Instead they let guys like Kane and Taker feud for the world title.

Swagger, Punk, Jeff Hardy, Anderson would have been one, Miz, Sheamus, Barrett (NXT), Kofi could definately do a main event fued (look at Orton/Kingston). It does take a lot of creativity to succesfully push a wrestler. Especially when the old talent is still there. Just wait until Triple H/Taker/Jericho and the like leave.

I think the next maybe 5 years for WWE will be interesting thinking about it in 5 years these guys could be gone

Edge
Undertaker
Triple H
Jericho
Big Show
Rey Mysterio
Kane

Im just wondering what they will do seeing as a lot of the larger than life characters will be gone from the WWE.
The WWE barely has any tag teams to help build talent and some of the talent they do push just feel so generic examples being Cody, Ted, Drew McIntyre, Swagger.

The only one that actually is standing out is The Miz

Miz and Kennedy. They do need more mouthpieces like them. Sadly, it's not something you can teach. Either you can do it, or you can't. It's VERY rare to see anyone who can talk like that, and could be used as a wrestler... Even rarer to see one that can wrestle.

-- World Heavyweight Champion Kane did an interview with the Baltimore Sun's Kevin Eck where he talked about the state of his career and how he feels he's at his peak: "I'm still having fun...I'm really at the height of my career, and I don't have any plans of packing it in, at least not in the near future." He also talked about how WWE Superstars are overlooked by the general public as performers... "Honestly, I think we in the WWE are very underrated as performers...What we do would be very difficult for even an experienced actor. To go out and sometimes have 15 minutes of verbiage, sometimes have to ad-lib and then, of course, have other variables such as the interaction with the audience, it can be challenging."

So unless something unfortunate happens you can cross Kane off that list.
